Sean O’Connor
Executive Chef & Partner
Sean is a proud graduate of Nait's culinary program and has been dedicated to working in various restaurants since the year 2004. Over the years, he has gained extensive experience in fine dining establishments, but it is through this journey that he discovered his true passion for creating smash burgers. Outside of his culinary endeavors, Sean enjoys spending quality time with his loving partner, Tamara, and their playful dog, Tonks. Additionally, he finds joy in slapping the bass alongside his brother and friends, creating music and laughs together.
Fun fact about Sean: He loves anything to do with hurling his body from high places. Including skydiving, and most of the tallest bungees in the world.
Michael Forgie
Chief Operations Officer & Partner
Michael is one of two integral parts of Black Box Hospitality. He has been working in the hospitality field since 2007, having successfully worked his way through a variety of well-known establishments such as Montana’s, Dairy Queen, The Sugarbowl, Normand’s, ORIGINAL Joe’s, and Elm Catering: before joining up with nate to form Black box in 2017. While he is educated in the aviation industry, his true passion lies in people. Outside of work, he is a rad dad to his son, Oscar. Together with his wife, Katherine, and dog Marzipan they enjoy travelling, golfing, skiing and enjoying the world of food, wine & craft beer.
Fun fact about Michael: he has another love…Dungeon’s & Dragons. Taking up the dungeon master seat with his pals on a weekly basis.
Nate Box
Chief Executive Officer & Partner
Nate, the other half of the prominent Black Box Hospitality Group, has been actively involved in the Edmonton hospitality industry since 2002. He opened his very first establishment, Elm Cafe, in 2010. Over the years, Nate has been an integral part of a variety of successful ventures including Elm Catering, District Cafe & Bakery, Little Brick, June’s Delicatessen, Highlands Liquor, Young & Restless Pizza, and Fox Burger. His unwavering belief in the vibrant city of Edmonton continuously inspires him to work in the community, building spaces that attract and strengthen the fabric of our neighbourhoods.
Nate is also a rad dad to his two young girls, and he loves exploring the world with them and his wife, Erica.
Fun fact about Nate: His first paid restaurant job was McDonald’s. Where he worked 1.5 shifts before being offered a job at his neighbours landscaping company.

Fun fact: Keith is a professional canine trainer.
Eli Pilgrim
Restaurant Manager - Fox Burger Highlands (2021)
Fun Fact: Eli is originally from Newfoundland and moved to Edmonton in 2017. He adopted 2 Blue Heeler dogs from the Edmonton Humane society named Skye and Storm.
Cassidy Watkins
